It’s 2018, Chinese year of the Dog……. at Concept we expect this year to be anything but a dog, it’s going to be a peach…..we are excited by the day to day challenges and opportunities that are coming our way, and, are as bewildered as anyone as to how Brexit will affect our industry, for those of us who are old enough to remember the hullabaloo about the Y2K bug as we entered the new millennium, it was all about computer networks failing, planes falling out the sky, the banking system crashing and it all came to nothing……..regardless of how we feel about it, Brexit is now a reality, but, it does not signal the end of life as we know it, the Sun still comes up in the morning and the Moon still appears in the night sky.
Change is undoubtedly coming our way, and, we need to be ready to react to it once the political dust has settled – over the past twenty years our fantastic clients have taken us all over the world and, we remain convinced that the best of British products and services will continue to be attractive internationally, therefore, we are developing plans and strategies to ensure that our growth and profitability continues, now is not a time for rash decisions, the old adage “act in haste and repent at leisure” is more apt today than it ever has been.
At the ESSA AGM last month, we discussed the need for the industry to attract and retain the millennial generation to keep driving the industry forward, this is something that we have embraced wholeheartedly at Concept with our work experience & apprenticeship program, to date we have had 4 apprentices of whom 3 now have full time roles in the company, and, this effort combined with development and investment in our own people maintains our forward momentum.
As the business wound down over Xmas we had our own Concept Furniture “Bush Tucker Trial” with a lovely selection of bugs and creepy crawlies to test the contestant’s nerve and stomachs
We have hit the ground running in Q1 2018, our first show as official furniture supplier has already been and gone, and, we have the usual exciting challenges at ICE Gaming followed by Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the order book for bespoke furniture produced by our ROMA division is very healthy, we are working on couple of very interesting and prestigious projects – more information will be forthcoming…..please take some time to browse our website to see where we will be working and, look at the new products and services that we can offer (we will release a new brochure very shortly).
